I was one of 18 entrants world-wide to be considered to win $50,000 for the community of Marysville. I consider myself lucky to have been chosen, and still consider it a privilege for Marysville Cookbook to have been chosen.
The winner will announced on the 27th October 2011 here Lenovo 10-Sec Hero Competition so watch out, maybe it will be my name up in lights for Marysville!
As at the 17th October 2011, the amount of $4,700 has been raised and give. For the cost of $35AU (inc P&H) you too can help Marysville recover from Bushfire one recipe at a time.
If you would like to support Marysville, please visit Marysville Cookbook You can pay by Cheque/Money Order, Direct Deposit and even Paypal.
Noting that if you wish to purchase more than one book, please contact me via the address on the site, as I try to keep the postage at cost price, which generally means a discount on bulk orders.
Thank-you
Heather
I'm sure a lot of people who lost family and friends on the day would have preferred to loose their recipes.....so insignificant in the scheme of things..
ReplyDeleteWhat sort hero pockets the difference between $35 and $10.....
ReplyDeleteAnyone can pick a few recipes out of a cookbook and make them their own
ReplyDeleteYou were not chosen for the Lenovo competition, you entered the competition.
ReplyDeleteSomeone has their nose out of joint, too much of coward to use his real name or even a 'net name.
ReplyDeleteLet's start at the top shall we?
1) Sometimes the small things in times of loss, mean more than anyone can realise. The tears proved that to me
2) $35 and $10.... that leaves $25 (if my maths is right) it costs $8 per book printed, it costs $8.35 for Vic postage and $10.35 national postage.... Paypal fees are $1.14 PER book.... and I had to pay for the printing up front... FYI - still in the red :) have you ever tried to give back to your community ANON coward?
3)The recipes are from my mother, myself and my grandmother, as members of the media can attest, they have seen my grandmothers HAND-WRITTEN cook book, dating back to the 1940's
4) and finally I entered a competition to be CHOSEN as one of 24 (turned out to be 18) contestants to via for the $50,000 for Marysville
ANON Coward WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR your COMMUNITY?
END
As a person who spends a lot of time in the Marysville area assisting with the rebuild. i am yet to hear a bad word to be said about what the Marysville Cookbook has done for the community. Those i am working with have nothing but thanks for Heathers work.
ReplyDeleteHeather, ignore them. Its fantastic that you have created this book and also that you have been chosen as a finalist. What this person obviously does not understand is that it is the small things that are missed when tragedy occurs. Family recipes are important to a lot of people and I know if I lost my grandmothers it would mean a lot to me. Good luck and no matter what the outcome - hold your head high for having the courage to do this!
ReplyDeleteHey Anonymous, whinny little cunt aren't ya?
ReplyDeleteI've experienced deaths of many loved ones, but at least when they're gone I had memories. When I lost my memory, all I had was emptiness. No one's grief is worse than another. No one knows that better than Heather. She has helped so many connect to heal together. You Anonymous sound like perhaps you have some unresolved bitterness inside you, for which I recommend therapy before it eats you from the inside out.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention also that the packaging I use costs $2.20 EACH so you can add that to the other post.
ReplyDeleteThank-you everyone for the support. I published this to show that you don't need to be scared of trolls and cowards, if you are doing the right thing, you have nothing to hide.

ReplyDeleteClearly you haven't read Heather's story. It's moving, tragic and heartfelt. She created this as a memory for all that the people of Marysville lost - and everytime I make these meals with my daughter, we are able to remember so much - and to know we made a contribution that went directly to the community.
Not to the organisations that collected money, and in many cases as with the QLD floods, are still to distribute. House remain ruined, people remain in trouble. I would rather give my money to Heather "the hero" and know that she is doing exactly as she says.
If you question it, check out the events at Marysville this weekend and ask for her - and face up to her and ask her and the community the questions.
Or allow her honest reply, and those of us who support her and the communities who suffered on that horrible day.
Shocked by Anon's comments! I applaud what you have done. Congrats on being chosen a finalist!
ReplyDeleteI won't post the coward's further attempts to deride me and embarass me but his latest is:-
ReplyDeleteI SHOULD THANK OTHERS.....
and............ WAIT FOR IT............
I should give the laptop to the local school.... How do you know coward that I haven't already made this promise?
You are nothing but a gutless coward, who won't get off his butt to help others and would rather ridicule the good people of this world.
No further posting privileges for you UNLESS you reveal who you are......
Heather you have help your community beyond all expectations ! the Tard/troll knocking all the good you have done is an Ebay member with no self esteem, no values and no gonads, ignore the useless comments from this useless person, continue to help your community because they all appreciate what your doing, the tard rubbishing all the good work done for the town is bathroom scum....
ReplyDeleteHeather you are an angel ! what your doing is a marvellous thing ! I know you are too gracious a lady to post who Anonymous is, however I'm not so I will name this gutless person, his user name is eloi and you can find him on the Ebay community forums, ironic that he posts on a community forum and has done nothing for any community or people trying to help a community ! eloi you are scum..Heather keep up the fantastic work ! Pete xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's very easy for someone to criticize Heather, but the critic would NEVER have had her guts and determination. Would never have braved the conditions Heather did four years back.
ReplyDeleteIt especially wasn't easy for Heather going in to help people, especially with her leg. But this wonderful, determined, caring human being did what a lot of GUYS don't have the guts to do.
And she has done her best always to help Marysville.
The critic who made the troll comment will find that those who know Heather WON'T stand for her being slandered.
